Get started

three steps, and you only really do one of them

  1. Get an invite

We're in invite-only beta. Drop me a note and tell me a little about what you'd like to build, or ask someone already using Haume Made to run hm invites create for you.

You'll get a line that starts with hm account create. Keep it handy.

  2. Paste this into your agent

Claude Code, Codex, Pi, or any agent that can run commands on your computer.

Please set up Haume Made for me so you can build and host websites.

    1. Install the `hm` command-line tool. Download the archive for this computer
       from https://github.com/haume-nz/hm-cli/releases/latest
       (hm_darwin_arm64, hm_darwin_amd64, hm_linux_amd64 or hm_linux_arm64),
extract it, and install `hm` somewhere on my PATH, such as ~/.local/bin.
Check it works with `hm version`.

    2. Read `hm --help` and `hm help concepts` so you understand how Haume Made
works. Use `hm help COMMAND` or `hm help --json` when you need details.

    3. Help me log in. `hm` asks for a password, so I'll run the account command
myself in a terminal: either the `hm account create ...` line from my
invite, or `hm account login --email ...` if I already have an account.
Don't ask me for my password. When I'm done, check with
       `hm account status`.

    4. Then ask me what website I'd like to make.

It installs one small program and reads its instructions. That's it.

  3. Say what you want

"A one-page site for my pottery classes, with the term dates and a contact form." Your agent will make it and send you a preview link. Ask for changes the way you'd ask a person.

Things worth knowing you can ask for:

    • "Make a checkpoint before you change anything big."
    • "Put it back how it was yesterday."
    • "Make a draft I can show the committee."
    • "Put it on ourclub.org.nz."
I'd rather install it myself

Download the archive for your computer from the latest release, then:

tar -xzf hm_darwin_arm64.tar.gz
install -m 0755 hm ~/.local/bin/hm
hm version

Releases are signed, and hm update keeps it up to date from then on.
