Using hm yourself

Run the handful of hm commands that are quicker to type than to ask for.

You don't need to use hm yourself, but it's handy for small jobs. This tutorial takes about five minutes.

1. Install and look around

Follow Install hm, then run:

hm --help

This explains how Haume Made works and lists every command. It's always right for the version you have.

2. Sign in

hm account login --email you@example.com
hm account login --code 123456

The code arrives by email. There's no password.

3. See your Sites

hm sites list

Sites are grouped by Organisation, with how much storage each Organisation is using. To work on one Site without typing its name every time:

hm sites select my-site

4. Ask where you are

hm status

status is the best first command. It says what Live and Preview show, and suggests what to do next.

5. Open Preview

hm preview open

This opens Preview in your browser and signs you in. The link works once, for a few minutes, so you can also paste it into your phone.

6. Find more help

hm # menu of command areas
hm domains # menu for one area
hm domains add --help # everything about one command

hm help --all prints every command on one page.
