How Haume Made works

Workspaces, Preview and Live, and why changes never go straight to your website.

Live is never edited directly

Most website tools change your real site as you edit. Haume Made doesn't. Visitors only ever see work you've checked and published.

The path of a change

  1. Workspace. A change starts in a Workspace: a private copy of the Site. Your agent edits files there, and every edit is saved separately, so any of them can be undone.
  2. Preview. The Site's Preview address shows one Workspace, privately. This is where you look, click around and ask for more changes.
  3. Publish. When you're happy, Publish puts exactly what Preview shows onto Live. Nothing else sneaks in.

After a Publish, that Workspace is done. The next change starts a fresh one from Live.

Several changes at once

You can have several Workspaces, say a redesign and a quick fix. Preview shows one at a time, and you choose which.

It's all Git

Underneath, a Site is a Git repository and each Workspace is a branch. You never need to know that. But if you're a developer, you can clone it and use your normal tools.
