Publish a change

Publish puts exactly what Preview shows onto Live. Check Preview first.

hm publish --dry-run   # optional: check without changing anything
hm publish

Live shows a maintenance page for a moment while it switches.

If the change includes database migrations

Run hm migrate first. Publish refuses until Live's database is up to date.

hm migrate
hm publish

After publishing

• The Workspace you published is finished and removed. Its history is kept.
• Preview is cleared.
• To make more changes, start a new Workspace (or just ask your agent for the next change).

If Publish fails part-way

Live stays on the maintenance page and the error names a deployment. Put Live back on its previous code with:

hm publish --roll-back DEPLOYMENT_ID
