Your first site

Build a one-page site with your agent, check it on Preview, and see how changes are made.

This tutorial assumes you've done Get started: your agent can run hm and you're signed in.

1. Ask for a site

Tell your agent what you want, in plain words:

Make me a one-page site for my pottery classes, with a short intro, upcoming classes and a contact form. Interview me for anything you need.

Your agent creates a Site and a Workspace, then starts building. You'll get a Preview link when there's something to look at.

2. Look at Preview

Open the Preview link. Preview is private. Only you (and your agent) can see it, so it's safe to look at half-finished work.

If the link has expired, ask your agent for a new one, or run:

hm preview open

3. Ask for changes

Say what you'd like changed, the way you'd tell a person:

The heading is too big, and can the classes be in a table with dates and prices?

Each change is saved as it's made. Refresh Preview to see it.

4. Undo something

Try it once so you know it works:

Undo that last change.

Every change in a Workspace is kept, so nothing is lost by experimenting.

5. Check where you are

hm status

This shows your Site, what Live and Preview contain, and the next things you can do.

What's next

On a Trial, Preview is as far as it goes. When you're ready for visitors, go Live on a paid Plan and then Publish.
