Add a custom domain

Use your own domain name, like example.org, for a Site.

Every Site already has a free address like your-site.weba.nz. Custom domains need a paid Plan.

1. Add the domain

hm domains add www.example.org

Add each name you want separately, for example both example.org and www.example.org.

2. Point DNS at Haume

At your domain registrar or DNS provider:

NameRecordValue
www.example.orgCNAMEyour-site.weba.nz
example.orgAyour Site's server address

A bare domain (like example.org) can't usually have a CNAME. Use an A record with the address your free weba.nz name points to. Find it with:

dig +short your-site.weba.nz

Use the last line, the IP address. If your DNS provider supports ALIAS or "CNAME flattening", point it at your-site.weba.nz instead. That keeps working if your Site ever moves server.

3. Check it

hm domains list
hm domains check DOMAIN_ID

Haume checks automatically, too. Once DNS is right, the domain starts working and gets an HTTPS certificate. DNS changes can take a while to spread.

4. Choose the main address (optional)

hm domains primary DOMAIN_ID

With a primary domain, every other address redirects to it. Without one, every address shows the Site.
